Projects we're working on.

Hurricane Harvey.... Been there, done that, waiting for the tee shirt to be printed.

Because you just can't get an idea of the scale by simply looking at the map?

Ladybird says "No worries, Mate!"

Our county had mandatory evacuation order, but our county
wraps around the bay and it's the other side that got the direct hit.
We are at 460' above sea level in our kitchen.

As you watch the news, here's a map of our county:

Here he comes...

This picture was taken a little before landfall, and Nancy was
not having any part of it.  The living room is the loudest room
in the house as far as wind noise is concerned.

We lost power shortly after that, and went to bed early, setting the
alarm to get up every 2 hours to check for damage.

The pin on the left is our house.

After the storm, we checked out the damage and were extremely
grateful that the only real damage was a downed tree.  As luck
would have it, the tree missed the power pole, propane tank, and
water pipes.  And, it was a tree that we planned to take down because
we worried it would cause damage in a tropical storm.

One branch came close to the plumbing pipes but this was
super lucky.  Good thing we moved the barrels.  The pipe
leading into the shed (water storage tank) is also safe.

Time to break out the chainsaws.  According to Ron, this is why we need 2 of them.

Ladybird is going to go nuts when she sees the huge pile of branches
to play with!  She will have them strewn all over the yard.

The roof held up beautifully.  Thank God!!!

June 2017
Another plumbing dig.  Hopefully our last.  We have lots of pieces of pine tree root, which serves as a great toy!

Ditch pickles, Ditch melon shine pending...

2017 Garden (As you can see, the fence in the background is a project needing completion...)

Ron removing remnants of wasp nest.  Note the standing water.  That's a common sight in South Texas in 2015.

Plumbing, plumbing, plumbing.....
....or how NOT to spend your birthday....

Improving the land...Stay tuned to see if these shrubs grow along the fence line.  They were planted too close to the house, and kept growing out into the sidewalk.  I ripped out the little one by hand, and the big one needed the tractor.  We transplanted along the driveway.  Let's see what happens.  Rain coming this week!

Moving in...

Surprise, there's a longhorn in your front yard!

Ron built our first smoker this spring.  Our next one will be bigger and the cook surface will be horizontal.  However, we've used this 3-4 times already and it works perfectly.

Ron received his Ford Senior Master Technician awards today!
